Pack a small blanket in your gear bag.  Water and Heed will be provided at each Start area.  DON’T FORGET YOUR BIB AND CHIP!

Spectator Viewing

The North Olympic Discovery Marathon and Half Marathon are unique for spectator viewing. The course is a point-to-point rather than the more common out and back or big loop.  ¾ of the run takes place on trail, away from road access.  But it is definitely worth checking out the great spots to give support and take pictures with beautiful backdrops.

Marathon Spectators start at Carrie Blake Park

1 Start your runner off and stick around because they make about a 4 mile loop and will run right past the start again.

2 Next great place to watch is anywhere along Washington Street in downtown Sequim.  After your runner passes, spend some time and check-out the rediscovered beauty of downtown Sequim.

3 Sequim Ave. and Hendrickson.

4 From downtown Sequim, take Hwy 101 to Carlsborg Rd, turn right. Follow to Runnion Rd, turn right to get to the west side of Railroad Bridge Park.  Park the car and walk toward the bridge finding a place to take a picture of your runner.  For safety reasons, please do not drive to the east entrance of the park.   Return to Carlsborg Rd., turn right, travel to Old Olympic Hwy and turn left. Go to #6.

Half Marathon spectators start here

5 Watch the half marathon start at the Agnew Soccer fields. Arrive early! No cars will be allowed on Barr Rd. after 8:15.

Do not park on Old Olympic Hwy.

6 Go West on Old Olympic Hwy and turn right onto Wild Currant Lane – go about ½ mile and park at the end of the road – just before the Siebert Crk Bridge.  Walk down to the bridge and cheer.  This is a hard section for your runner.

7 Continue now South on Old Olympic Hwy for about one mile and head west on Highway 101.  Travel about 2 miles and turn right at the Deer Park Scenic Overlook.  Do not turn on Buchanan!  This is a highly congested area – please use extreme caution.  This is mile 20.  Your runner has made their final climb – it’s all down hill and along the water for the next 6 miles!

8 Finish Area!  Find a spot next to the Red Lion – on the beach or on the grass and wait for you runner.  There will be bands playing all day.  Restaurants, ice cream, coffee, etc. are just a block or two walk.

Stop by the Family Booth at the Race Expo and get a piece of chalk to create a good luck message along the course for your runner.
